No matter how many times you may read through the Holy Bible, the Lord always has a highlight. Something you have read before and did not give much thought to, now has a fresh breath of revelation upon it. Those three simple words that Christ would begin his reply to satan with in response to each temptation that was hurled at Him really caught my attention today during my morning devotions:)
We often hear things in our walk of faith that we simply do not understand how to apply to our lives until God with his perfect timing and circumstance sheds a light upon it. When you hear things like take up the sheild of faith and carry the sword of the spirit, what comes to mind? You see a sheild and sword and you wonder to yourself, how do I literally apply this to my life. What struck me this morning is that Christ is showing us in this passage how to literally weild the sword of the spirit. When temptation comes, do you stare it straight in the face and say, "it is written...." using the appropriate blade (scripture) to slice right through it and overcome it in the name of Jesus? Don't be caught with a blade that has not been sharpend, time in His word is the only way to ensure a sharp blade. Time in His word is the only way to ensure that you are fully clothed in the armour of God. Beloved, Don your spiritual garments and keep them fresh.
1 John 2:6 says that whoever claims to live in Him must walk as Christ did. He is our perfect example of how to apply God's Holy Words to our lives.
With a new year upon us, many make resolutions... I encourage you to make a commitment to the daily reading of God's word this year. Let us take a walk together with Christ and learn from Him how to apply the scriptures to our lives. Let us have a "Christ Powered Revival..."
I am reading two chapters of the New Testament starting in Mathew in the morning with one chapter of Proverbs, two chapters of the Old Testament in the evening starting in Genesis with one chapter of Psalms. There is nothing more refreshing than starting and ending your day with God's word. I invite you to journey with me through the word of God this year. I will be praying for you and with you as we embark on this divine adventure.
Journal your impressions and share them here if you feel led to do so. As a nurse I know that documentation is incredibly important. If you didn't document it, they say you didn't do it. I have found that journaling gives me insight to what I have done and haven't done, but most importantly it helps me to see what God is revealing to me over time. He pressed upon my heart in December of 2006 to journal all impressions and dreams/visions no matter how rediculous they may seem. Over and over again He draws me back into journal entries and shows me things that cause me to stand in absolute awe of Him.
There are no greener thoughts than filling your mind with the Word of God.....

"Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart."
The desire of my heart for what you will find to be a delightfully divine journey is that Christ the Lord breath His reviving breath upon your spirit, and that you realize not only is He who He says He is, but also that you see and accept that you are who He says you are as well. The two go hand in hand. The deeper things of God will come to a heart that is set on Him and who is dedicated to the following two things: time in His word and time spent in holy conversation (prayer) with Him. I believe His word, so I know that if you are here reading this now, it shall be so for you.
