Tongue of the Wise

"Reckless words pierce like a sword, but the tongue of the wise brings healing." Proverbs 12:18

"A word aptly spoken is like apples of gold in settings of silver." Proverbs 25:11

" The tongue has the power of life and death... Proverbs 18:21

"He who guards his lips gaurds his life...." Proverbs 13:3

" ...He who holds his tongue is wise." Proverbs 10:19

Pay attention and listen to the sayings of the wise, apply your heart to what I teach for it is pleasing when you keep them in your heart and have all of them ready on your lips.... Proverbs 22:17-18 (read a chapter from the book of Proverbs daily)

My son, if your heart is wise, then my heart will be glad; my inmost being will rejoice when your lips speak what is right. Proverbs 23:15-16

That little saying I use to hear as a child, "sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me",  does not line up with the word of God. The Holy Scriptures tell us words are powerful even to the point of life and death. We are instructed on numerous accounts to watch how we use our tongue. When someone speaks a harsh word, it does peirce like a sword. Wrongly spoken words are hurtful.

Examine your words today and ask yourself if they come from a place of love, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self control?

Be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to anger....Indeed we should listen twice as much as we speak...

God bless the reading of your word today. Speak to our hearts. May we be a bubbling fountain of wisdom.

"Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart."

The desire of my heart for what you will find to be a delightfully divine journey is that Christ the Lord breath His reviving breath upon your spirit, and that you realize not only is He who He says He is, but also that you see and accept that you are who He says you are as well. The two go hand in hand. The deeper things of God will come to a heart that is set on Him and who is dedicated to the following two things: time in His word and time spent in holy conversation (prayer) with Him. I believe His word, so I know that if you are here reading this now, it shall be so for you.
