Sealed

...The virgins who were ready went in with Him and the door was shut.
Later the others also came, "Sir!, Sir!, they said," open the door for us." but he replied, " I tell you the truth, I do not know you. Mathew 25:10-12

It is clear here that five had oil and five did not. The word oil seemed to highlight on the page. The following ran through my thoughts; oil, annointing, Holy Spirit and then the word sealed. Sealed?? ,"what are you telling me Lord?" Anytime something random comes into your awareness like that when you are reading scripture, do not fluff it off, follow up and see what the relevance is. I knew to look the word up in the concordance to see what scriptures are linked to it.

"Now it is God who makes both us and you stand firm in Christ. He anointed us, set His seal of ownership on us, and put His spirit in our hearts as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come." 2 Cor 1:21-22

"... having believed, you were marked in Him with a seal, the promised  Holy Spirit, who is a deposit quaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God's posession-to the praise of His Glory." Ephesians 1:13-14

Without the oil the lamps are without light, an empty dark shell. Without His seal, His annointing, and His light, we are also an empty dark shell. If you are without that seal when he comes, He will not know you.

Amen!! I could not agree more with paying attention and JOURNALING everything that pops out or stirs a thought in you. You will be so happy to have it later because it is like a game of connect the dots with God. It is the glory of God to conceal a matter, the glory of kings to search it out. Prov 25:2.

Another thing to remember about a seal is that it that whatever a King marks with his seal is irrevocable. If you want to learn further about seals, read about signet rings. The Lord kept putting that in front of me some time ago in reading Esther:

Est 8:8 Now write another decree in the king’s name in behalf of the Jews as seems best to you, and seal it with the king’s signet ring —for no document written in the king’s name and sealed with his ring can be revoked.”

What it means to revoke something so that irrevocable means the below cannot happen:
Main Entry: 1re·voke
Pronunciation: \ri-ˈvōk\
Function: verb
Inflected Form(s): re·voked; re·vok·ing
Etymology: Middle English, from Anglo-French revocer, revoquer, from Latin revocare, from re- + vocare to call, from voc-, vox voice — more at voice
Date: 14th century
transitive verb 1 : to annul by recalling or taking back : rescind
2 : to bring or call back

I wanted to note that my generated word of the day yesterday 01-15-10 was the same verse that jumped out from our readings.

Hope deferred maketh the heart sick: but when the desire cometh, it is a tree of life.
Proverbs 13:12

His Delighted Servant said...

Thank you for your wonderful insight on a seal. O' how I love the book of Esther.

"Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart."

The desire of my heart for what you will find to be a delightfully divine journey is that Christ the Lord breath His reviving breath upon your spirit, and that you realize not only is He who He says He is, but also that you see and accept that you are who He says you are as well. The two go hand in hand. The deeper things of God will come to a heart that is set on Him and who is dedicated to the following two things: time in His word and time spent in holy conversation (prayer) with Him. I believe His word, so I know that if you are here reading this now, it shall be so for you.
